Evangelistic Prayer Teams

    Evangelistic Prayer Teams (EPTs).

An EPT in action

What is an EPT?

An EPT is a group of up to seven people who meet to pray and encourage each other in personal evangelism at work.

Each team has a leader who starts the meeting with a 5 minute bible talk.

EPT's also use a specially designed booklet to record prayer points and help us make progress in our personal evangelism at work.

When do EPT's meet?

EPT's meet fortnightly either at breakfast or lunch, usually for 45 minutes.

How will an EPT help?

  • Providing a regular time each fortnight for you to think about personal evangelism at work and to pray to our powerful God about it.
  • Provides a structured approach to help you analyse the opportunities with people from work and to make progress in sharing Christ with them.
  • Its encouraging being part of a team of people who are all trying to do the same thing.

Testimonies of how EPT's have helped.

Mark Daly says:

"I have prayed regularly for over a decade in an EPT. It has proved an excellent way to develop close friendships with like-minded Christians. Praying in a group provides the opportunity to be encouraged by the way God is working in others' lives. It keeps me thinking about my relationship with God and spurs me on all sorts of ways, especially in the work context. I need regular reminders about Godly living at work! The end result of involvement in an EPT is increased courage and confidence to testify about Jesus in any context, including at work."

Sonja Swansborough says:

Since I have joined an EPT I have noticed that God has provided more opportunities to share the gospel with the people that I work with. In our EPT we have seen the results of joining together for prayer on a consistent basis and it is wonderful to know that when we are doing bible studies with non-christians colleagues or facing difficult issues at work, that we can call on our EPT to pray in a knowledgable, specific way for us.

The EPT also provides a great way to maintain an eternal focus in the work environment. I highly value the support I have from my EPT and the way we are blessed when we come together.

How do I join an EPT?

Contact your local Ecom office for help in finding an EPT suitable for you.

Please note:

  1. Most groups are gender specific. A few EPT's are mixed gender.
  2. Each EPT has a maximum of seven 'regular' members. Check that the EPT has space for you to join
  3. Most EPT's meet fortnightly. Contact the leader to find out when the EPT is meeting next.
